Praise for Geraldine Pu and Her Cat Hat, Too!

Another engaging outing for the likable protagonist of Chang’s simple but thoughtful graphic early reader series.”
— Kirkus Review

“The illustrations are adorable and the writing style is perfect for younger readers aged six and up. From Geraldine, children can learn the importance of accepting and liking yourself for who you are. Geraldine is very creative in the end and encourages others to think outside of the box, which is another great lesson.”
— YA and Kids Book Central, starred review

This a cozy, sweet family story. I like that the family unit seems to be just kids and grandmother, and that a bit about Amah’s childhood in Taiwan is included, as well as a few Mandarin Chinese words. Mao Maotz has some dialogue in thought bubbles, and it’s a hoot. She reads like an older mentor, calling Geraldine “Honey.” Short chapters and easy to read text (level 3) make this a nice longer easy reader for kids who are newly independent readers.”

“Chang’s art is casual and simple, with a mostly pastel palette and just enough detail to bring the reader into each scene without overwhelming them.”
School Library Journal

“While I enjoyed Geraldine Pu and Her Lunch Box, Too!, which was published in 2021, I like the second book in this early reader graphic novel series even better, quite possibly because my daughter loves cats. … This is a fun, super sweet early reader.”
